Chronic Pain Management Mini Series

Test Your Knowledge!

How many types of pain are there?

The answer is complex.

Pain can be classified by duration (acute vs. chronic); by mechanism (nociceptive, neuropathic, central); by behaviour (diurnal pattern, response to activity and rest, summation and latency); it can also be considered in terms of sensory, affective and evaluative components.

In addition to this we need to be able to assess the impact of the pain across a range of domains including activity, mood and sleep.

How did you get on?

This question and answer is from Pete Gladwell, tutor on the upcoming Online Mini Series Course Chronic Pain. To get help with your patients suffering with chronic pain, read on.....
