About The Webinar

The role of the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) in the management of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) will be explored in this webinar. TMD is a collective term that encompasses pain arising from the muscles of mastication along with disorders of the TMJ. The aetiology of TMD is not clearly understood, however it appears to be multifactorial and reflects an interaction between physical, functional and psychosocial factors. More than a quarter of the general population have had TMD at some point in their lives. Patients suffering with TMD often do not fit into one classification for TMD and often present with more than one disorder. There is no single cause that accounts for all the signs and symptoms of TMD described by a patient, therefore there is no one single treatment strategy that should be recommended for patients with TMD. A multi-modal and multidisciplinary approach is the most effective way to manage TMD.
